Iconic Events in South Lake Tahoe
American Century Celebrity Golf Championship
The American Century Celebrity Golf Championship is a week-long Lake Tahoe event offering spectators the opportunity to watch 80 professional athletes and celebrities compete for their share of the $600,000 Purse and the American Century Championship Cup in a 54-hole tournament. This family-friendly event takes place at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course, located in Lake Tahoe. Celebrities who have previously appeared include Steph Curry, Aaron Rodgers, Ray Romano and Jerry Rice.
Lights on the Lake Fireworks
Every year, thousands of people head to Lake Tahoe for the Fourth of July holiday celebration. There are many places to watch fireworks over the lake, including right here in Lake Tahoe. Families can watch the sky light up from Nevada Beach, Lakeside Beach, Lakeview Commons, and more. This spectacular sight is one the entire family will enjoy.
Fall Fish Fest
Come celebrate the annual fall migration of the Kokanee salmon during the Fall Fish Fest at the Taylor Creek Visitor Center here in Lake Tahoe. Fish Fest is a two-day event held each fall, celebrating the dramatic and colorful spawning behaviors of the Kokanee Salmon. The Festival is a family event encouraging participation by children and their parents in a wide variety of educational and entertaining activities.
New Year’s Eve at Heavenly
This event takes place at Heavenly Ski Resort on New Year’s Eve each year when fire, lights, and music fill the air. Live music begins at 4:30 pm, and at 9:00 pm, in time for the midnight Ball Drop in New York City’s Time Square, Heavenly’s Gondola Ball Drop will cross above the crowd and the most spectacular fireworks display that has ever hit the Heavenly Village. The party continues into the night at one of the many casino nightclubs.
New Year’s Eve at Tahoe Blue Event Center
Après Ski NYE! will be the ultimate snowcapped exclamation point for 2024 as it winds down and the excitement ramps up for this extraordinary event combining the best in electronic music, winter sports, and vibrant nightlife.
DeCelle Memorial Lake Tahoe Relay
Annual DeCelle Memorial Lake Tahoe Relay. Considered to be the oldest relay race in the country, the Lake Tahoe Relay began as a New Year’s gag by a group of college runners in 1959, grew into a tribute to a beloved son, and has evolved over decades as a family’s labor of love. With altitudes up to 6,500 ft. on the 72-mile course around scenic Lake Tahoe, this race is as fun as it is challenging.
Sample the Sierra
Sample the Sierra Farm-to-Fork Festival is an annual culinary event celebrating the vibrant flavors and rich heritage of the Sierra Nevada region. Valhalla Tahoe Event Series
Valhalla hosts a Summer Concerts Series every summer, monthly Improv shows, a play the first two weekends in July and the annual WordWave one-act play competition in September. The annual Holiday Faire the weekend before Thanksgiving is a family tradition for many.
Lake Tahoe Brewfest
Kick off the summer with craft brew tastings from all over Lake Tahoe and surrounding areas at Tahoe Brewfest. Enjoy a home brewers’ competition, live music, arts and craft vendors, and delicious food! The festival features breweries from both the North and South shore of the lake, as well as other participants from Northern California and Nevada.
Summer Concert Series
South Lake Tahoe concerts heat up in the summer, with the Summer Concert Series taking place at the Lake Tahoe Outdoor Arena at Harveys. This venue hosts some of the hottest music acts under the stars in their 4,000-seat amphitheater with a star-studded lineup. Previous performers include Lady Gaga, Paul Simon and Keith Urban.
Rock Tahoe Half Marathon
The Rock Tahoe Half Marathon, a 13.1-mile course, starts at Spooner Summit and drops over 1,000 feet as it winds its way down Highway 50 along the stunning East Shore of Lake Tahoe to a finish line at the Golden Nugget Hotel & Casino Lake Tahoe.
