Partial Closures at Van Sickle Bi-State Park

On Monday, July 27, construction will begin on long-term improvements at Van Sickle Bi-State Park.

During construction:

• The Nevada day-use area, parking lot, and state line monument will be inaccessible.
• Trails on the Nevada side west of the Vista Spur Viewpoint will be closed.
• The California side of the park will remain open, including access to the Tahoe Rim Trail from the California trailhead (limited parking may be available).
• These improvements include a new park facility and future enhancements that will help protect and improve the park for years to come.
• Construction is expected to continue through Fall 2027. Thank you for your patience as we invest in the future of Van Sickle Bi-State Park.

As of June 15, the Lake Tahoe Regional Fire Chiefs Association has declared the official burn ban for the season.

• Charcoal is prohibited in the city limits
• No open wood burning ever
• No burning whatsoever on red flag days
• Natural gas, propane and pellet barbecues, including pellet grills such as a Traeger, are still permitted, unless a red flag warning is issued.

U.S. Hwy 50 Tahoe Stateline to Spooner Summit construction update

The second and final season of the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) U.S. 50 repaving project between Spooner Summit and Cave Rock is scheduled to resume on April 27, 2026, and continue through October 2026. Expect continued single-lane closures and active construction on this 13-mile stretch to improve safety, paving, and infrastructure. More information here.
