Sno-Flake at Tahoe

Nestled in the heart of South Lake Tahoe, Sno-Flake at Tahoe has been a beloved fixture since its grand opening on July 19, 1961. For over six decades, this nostalgic eatery has delighted both locals and visitors with its classic American fare, becoming synonymous with mouthwatering burgers and award-winning milkshakes.

Under the stewardship of new owners Salvador Davalos and Edith Lizaola since April 2024, Sno-Flake has embraced a renaissance, aiming to revive the cherished flavors and experiences that have defined its legacy. Salvador, with his extensive background in local food service, including eight years at Sno-Flake under previous ownership, is committed to restoring the drive-in to its former glory. Edith, a South Lake Tahoe native and South Tahoe High graduate, brings her deep-rooted community ties and passion for hospitality to the venture.

The menu boasts an array of delectable options, with standout items like the Tahoe Burger—piled high with sautéed mushrooms and onions, topped with Monterey Jack cheese—and the Teriyaki Burger, both earning accolades from patrons. Complementing these savory selections are their renowned milkshakes, available in a variety of flavors, including the popular Oreo and Kit Kat shakes, a testament to their recognition as “Best Milkshake in Tahoe” for multiple years.

Recent enhancements include the introduction of garlic parmesan fries, Cajun fries, and a crispy chicken sandwich, catering to evolving tastes while honoring traditional favorites. Soft-serve enthusiasts will be pleased with the improved recipe, offering richer, creamier cones, and plans are underway to reintroduce the iconic dipped cones that many fondly remember.

Families and their four-legged companions are warmly welcomed, with outdoor seating featuring a soon-to-be-added fire pit and special “pup cups” of ice cream for canine visitors. As the seasons change, operating hours will extend to accommodate summer crowds, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to indulge in the timeless charm and flavors of Sno-Flake at Tahoe
