Jack Johnson is a celebrated Hawaii-born singer-songwriter, filmmaker, and former pro surfer widely recognized for his laid-back acoustic sound and coastal-inspired songwriting. Raised on the North Shore of Oahu, he emerged as a standout voice in modern folk and surf-rock with the release of his breakout album, Brushfire Fairytales, in 2001. Since then, Johnson has released several best-selling albums, including In Between Dreams, Sleep Through the Static, and To the Sea, earning global acclaim and selling more than 25 million albums worldwide. Fans know him for his timeless hits, including “Upside Down,” famously featured in the soundtrack for the film Curious George.
A dedicated environmental activist as well as a musician, Johnson uses his platform to promote sustainability and ocean conservation. He founded the Johnson Ohana Charitable Foundation and the Kōkua Hawaii Foundation, both of which are dedicated to eco-education and community initiatives. His tours are recognized for pioneering environmentally conscious practices, underscoring his ongoing commitment to supporting a healthier planet.
