Storm Door is Open: Fresh Snow at South Lake Tahoe

Ski Resorts Received 6-8 Inches; Snow Forecast All Next Week

Feb. 11, 2026 (SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif./Nev.) –With Valentine’s Day approaching both love and snow are in the air and on the ground at South Lake Tahoe as recent storms have refreshed winter conditions dropping up to 6-8 inches on the mountains. The storm door is open with weather patterns shifting and snow possible all next week. The forecast calls for few inches each day at lake level with 5-8 inches expected on Tuesday, Feb. 17 www.visitlaketahoe.com.

“We’re loving this fresh snow and anticipating free refills of snowfall daily,” said Carol Chaplin, president and CEO of the Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority. “And it’s just perfect timing with our snowiest months ahead assuring great ski/snowboarding conditions into spring.”

Mountain operations may be impacted and resort officials encourage ski/snowboarders to check with each resort for current snowfall, lift and terrain status: Heavenly Mountain Resort, Kirkwood Mountain Resort and Sierra-at-Tahoe.

During snowfall, a fleet of city and state snow removal vehicles work throughout the Lake Tahoe Basin to keep roads clear and safe for travel. SKI RESORT EVENTS
February is officially Passholder Love Month at Sierra-at-Tahoe with every Friday in February, (Feb.  13, 20 and 27) offering exclusive early access for passholders-only to Grandview Express, West Bowl and Easy Rider Express, conditions permitting, starting at 8:30 a.m. Sierra-at-Tahoe will host a schedule of live music and parties in the Solstice Plaza and The Pub. Valentine’s Day a party featuring live music from the California Repercussions, a 50-piece band of equal parts brass, woodwinds, percussion, as well as The Imposters. The month’s schedule features DJ Justin Smaine and Kyle K, Feb. 15; Justin Eubanks of Pickle Barrel!, Feb. 21; The Imposters return Feb. 22, and Jeff Connor. Feb. 28.

Heavenly Mountain Resort’s 4th annual Toyota Air and Après, returns with a three-day event featuring DJ sets and a festival village offering an array of vendors, dining options, beverages, all highlighted by thrilling big-air events at the base of World Cup near California Main Lodge. Gravity-defying athletes will perform stunts on a 45-foot jump with Heavenly as the background canvas for a light show, Feb. 27-March 1.

Kirkwood Mountain Resort will host Singles at Sunrise on Valentine’s Day from 1:30 -3:30 with a new speed dating event on Sunrise Chair 4. Check-in with Ski Patrol at the top of Chair 2 to sign up, head to bottom of Chair 4, and get paired up in the designated singles line. If sparks don’t fly, head back to the bottom to match again. If the sparks catch, take more laps together and make the moves to The Cornice for drinks and dessert specials.
