East Shore Trail Lake Tahoe

Before the first line was drawn on a map in 1988, residents and visitors of Lake Tahoe had been dreaming of a trail that would provide a safer alternative for cyclists and beachgoers near the scenic East Shore of Lake Tahoe and Sand Harbor. Through the work of 13 partners, this is now a reality! The Tahoe East Shore Trail stretches from Sand Harbor to Incline Village.

This stunning lakeside bike and walking trail features 11 beach access points, 15 vista points along the path, as well as rest stops to refresh yourself. Make sure to bring your beach towels!

You can now safely explore a wide range of activities along the East Shore, whether walking, riding, or rolling.

The East Shore of Lake Tahoe is one of the most famously beautiful parts of the lake. It is known for crystal clear waters and gorgeous granite boulders, with many beaches to choose from including sweet coves, like Zephyr Cove.

Remember to bring plenty of water and snacks, and always apply sunscreen when planning to be outdoors for an adventure in the Sierras. The higher elevation makes the sun’s rays stronger up here.

Please share the path, cyclists must yield to hikers. Hikers, please do not walk more than four people across. Everybody keep to the right.

Leashed dogs are welcome, but please keep in mind there is very little shade, so it is important to bring a lot of water.

Here’s what you need to know before you go.
