Tahoe's Trash Pickup Challenge: Earth Week Edition

April 19 - 25

All Day Event

April 26 @ 6:59 pm

It’s officially spring! Unfortunately, as the snow melts it reveals a lot of litter that has accumulated over the winter months. Help us start Tahoe’s busy summer season off right by participating in Tahoe’s Trash Pickup Challenge: Earth Week Edition! You can join us at one of our in-person events, clean up remotely or do both.

Everyday throughout Earth Week (April 19-25) is a cleanup day. Join us by tidying up in your neighborhood, local happy place or a hot spot you have seen around the Basin. You can clean up any day, any time.

Make sure to double the impact of your efforts! Report what you find while cleaning up using the Litter and Trash Report on the Citizen Science Tahoe App (free to download at citizensciencetahoe.org) or by using a data card (download it here) and emailing it to events@keeptahoeblue.org. Not only does data help us advocate for solutions to the litter you find, but it will also enter you into our week-long raffle!

For those of you that are interested in participating in one of our in-person, physically distanced cleanups, there will be a north shore and a south shore option toward the end of Earth Week! Join Keep Tahoe Blue in South Lake Tahoe on Thursday, April 22 (more information) or IVGID Public Works in Incline Village on Friday, April 23 (more information).

Learn why cleanups are important and how to conduct a successful event of your own by attending a virtual Tahoe Blue Crew training. Adopt your Tahoe happy place and keep it litter-free all Earth Month and all year! Click here to learn more, find a training and RSVP.

Enter Tahoe’s Trash Pickup Challenge raffle by submitting data or a photo from your cleanup by email to events@keeptahoeblue.org, or by submitting through the Citizen Science Tahoe App. If you plan to submit data or photos through the CST App, please make sure you enter your name and email so that we know who you are and can contact you. You will receive one raffle entry for each dataset or photo you submit. Winners will be selected at the end of the week. See our full raffle terms and conditions here

If you would like to pick up equipment to conduct your cleanup, you can do so at one of two locations:

  • SOUTH SHORE – League to Save Lake Tahoe – 2608 Lake Tahoe Boulevard, South Lake Tahoe, CA 96150. Coordinate a pickup time by emailing events@keeptahoeblue.org
  • NORTH SHORE – Incline Village Government Improvement District Waste Not – 893 Southwood Boulevard, Incline Village, NV 89451. Coordinate a pickup time by emailing wastenot@ivgid.org.

This event is being hosted in partnership with Clean Tahoe, Incline Village Government Improvement District Waste Not and South Tahoe Refuse.
