Following the success of last year’s event, Lake Tahoe’s top destination is once again transforming into a Halloween wonderland. The Shops at Heavenly Village, in partnership with the South Tahoe Chamber of Commerce, the South Lake Tahoe Lodging Association, and Desolation Hotel, are excited to announce the largest FREE trick-or-treat event for kids on the south shore, featuring a $1000 costume contest.
Gary Casteel, CEO of Trans Sierra Investments/The Shops at Heavenly Village, shared, “Providing a safe and fun trick-or-treat experience for our kids is paramount. I commend the dedication of tour tenants organizations coming together to distribute candy. This event is shaping up to be another unforgettable one.”
Set to delight both children and adults alike, the event will feature:
– Over 50 candy stops by village businesses and local organizations.
– Fun activities like bounce houses, slides and other family-friendly attractions.
– Entertainment including zombie DJs and live music performances.
– A special appearance by the South Lake Tahoe Fire and Police Departments, with firetrucks, candy and stickers for the kids.
Tamara Wallace, President of the South Tahoe Chamber of Commerce, added, “We are incredibly grateful to The Shops at Heavenly Village for hosting this event once again in 2024. It’s wonderful to see the village businesses come together for the community, and the Chamber is proud to support this tradition.”
Desolation Hotel & Maggie’s are also thrilled to be participating in this year’s Halloween celebration and are confident it will be an unforgettable experience for the Tahoe community. “We’re proud to be neighbors with Dreu and his amazing team at Heavenly Village, and we’re grateful for their hard work and dedication to making this a must-attend event every year.”
A $1000 costume contest will take center stage at 6:30 pm on the main stage, offering an exciting lineup of categories for kids to showcase their costumes. And it’s not just for the little ones – moms can also join in the fun with the “witches walk,” a chance to show off their best Halloween outfits.
Dreu Murin expressed his excitement, saying, “At Heavenly Village, we go big, and this Halloween is no exception. We’re once again creating the most memorable trick-or-treat experience the south shore has ever seen. Huge thanks to all the village shops, the Casteel family, the Pipkin Family Trust, and all our partners for making this possible. Our kids deserve nothing but the best.”

The event is FREE to the public from 3pm-7pm in the Heavenly Village.
