Junior Freeride Championship at Kirkwood

April 6-13, 2025, Junior Freeride Championships at Kirkwood Mountain Resort. We love hosting competitions at legendary Kirkwood and are beyond excited to be hosting the Junior Championship event.

Kirkwood has a long history of showing up for competitive Freeride. The venues we’ll use for U15/U19 Ski and Snowboard are within the Permanently Closed terrain of Kirkwood’s Cirque. While these get controlled throughout winter (as there is public access downhill), the mountain may require all competitors to have full avalanche gear, depending on conditions: Transceiver, Shovel and Probe. Depending on short-term conditions, this is sometimes pared back to Transceiver only, but you should be preparedly equipped in your planning. This is not the California of movies… at least not those movies, but the steep complex of the venerable North-facing Cirque holds in store what we feel is the best Freeride venue in North America. This is a no-frills skiers’ mountain.
