Free Sports Physicals for Student Athletes

Barton Urgent Care is offering free sports physicals on Sundays in May to students. School paperwork is required. Parent/ guardian must be present. This evaluation does not replace your student’s annual preventative exam. An additional sports physical event for High School students will take place in June.

Wellness Webinar: How to Have a Healthy Relationship with your Smartphone

Today’s average teenager spends about half of their waking time on their phone. Child psychiatrist, Dr. Tracy Protell, will discuss the downsides of too much screen time, warning signs to be aware of and how to develop healthy coping skills. Lake Tahoe Sports Medicine & Orthopedics Primary Care Symposium

Childbirth Preparation: One-day Intensive
June 1, 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Course fee: $45 per couple

During this one-day class, new parents will learn best practices and information for the birthing process, labor positions, pre-term indicators, preparing for the hospital, relaxation/breathing techniques, pain management, newborn and postpartum care, lactation consulting, car seat safety, nutrition, plus infant CPR and first aid. ALL high school athletes are required to get a physical annually before they will be accepted to play, per NIAA requirements. Barton Center for Orthopedics & Wellness is offering free sports physicals on June 5 at the following times; Incoming Seniors @ 4:30 p.m.; Incoming Juniors @ 5:15 p.m.; Incoming Sophomores @ 6:00 p.m.; Incoming Freshmen @ 6:45 p.m. School paperwork is required. Parent/ guardian must be present. This evaluation does not replace your student’s annual preventative exam.

Childbirth Preparation Series
Wednesdays, June 19 – July 24 (6-week series), 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Course fee: $20 per couple

Expectant parents are encouraged to attend childbirth classes at approximately 28 to 32 weeks. Professional, certified childbirth education instructors/ nurses will provide best practices and information for the birthing process, labor positions, pre-term indicators, preparing for the hospital, relaxation/ breathing techniques, pain management, newborn and postpartum care, lactation consulting, car seat safety, nutrition, plus infant CPR and first aid. In Barton Health’s ongoing support classes, we invite parents and their babies, aged 0-12 months, to attend our free weekly groups to share experiences and discuss the joys and challenges of parenting. Get support from other parents as well as professional support from a childbirth instructor and guest speakers. Topics and locations may vary each week. Free Blood Pressure Checks

1st and 3rd Wednesdays of each month, 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

High blood pressure, or hypertension, is a condition that may not cause any noticeable symptoms for years. Having your blood pressure checked is the only way to know if it is high; untreated hypertension can result in serious illness. Established patients with a hypertension diagnosis are welcome to receive free, regular blood pressure checks. No appointment necessary. For more information, visit BartonHealth.org.
