
Applications Accepted by LTVA Through September 10
Aug. 5, 2026 (SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif./Nev.) – Local non-profit organizations are invited to apply to the Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority for $82,000 in funding resulting from the recent American Century Championship. Applications must be completed by Thursday, Sept. 10 by 5 p.m.: 2026 American Century Championship Donation Request Application.
Title sponsor American Century Investments in partnership with the Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority and NBC Sports, are once again committing funds to area service groups with priorities based on impact and need regarding youth, environment and community service.
To qualify for financial considerations, organizations must be in South Lake Tahoe, Calif., or in Douglas County, Nev. and meet 501(c)3 nonprofit guidelines. Each entrant is required to provide their mission outline, specific details on how the donation will be applied, and how community impact will be measured. Applications will only be accepted online.
Awards will be presented to recipients at the LTVA Board of Directors meeting, Oct. 8. Since 2009, donations exceeding $2.4 million have been distributed to more than 95 Tahoe area non-profits assisting 12,000+ individuals.
During this year’s event, NBC and American Century Investments continued an annual $10,000 donation started in 2024 to support the South Tahoe Recreation & Aquatic Center. A baseball themed dedication ceremony was conducted at the new center to honor the memory of Tim Wakefield, a long-time tournament participant and Boston Red Sox pitcher with his framed jersey installed adjacent to the pitching machines and batting cages donated in his name. NBC continued its Gene Upshaw Memorial Scholarship with the Lake Tahoe Community College awarding $10,000 to student Valery Gonzalez towards tuition at Chico State University. Valery’s educational goal is to earn a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree.
The tournament also provided $12,000 to the South Lake Tahoe Football Boosters for their ecological efforts during the tournament, raising 2026 local donations to $114,000.
The American Century Championship is conducted annually at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course in Stateline, Nev. The area’s largest annual special event featured more than 90 sports and entertainment celebrities in a 54-hole competition aired on NBC Sports, Peacock and NBCSN. American Century Investments, the event’s title sponsor since 1999, continues its role in partnership with NBC Sports, the Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority, Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course and the South Tahoe community. Since its inception in 1990, the American Century Championship has donated more than $8.5 million to local and national non-profits.
