Rock Tahoe Half Marathon Editorial

The Rock Tahoe Half Marathon is an annual half marathon that courses through the eastern side of Lake Tahoe and finishes at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino near the border of California and Nevada.

What To Expect On The Course

The race starts at Spooner Summit, where Highways 50 and 28 meet. From there, you descend down Highway 50. As you continue your march towards Stateline, the Sierra Nevada Mountains will slowly unfold stunning views of the largest alpine lake in the world - Lake Tahoe. Other main attractions across the course include running through Cave Rock and a peaceful stretch alongside Burke Creek in Nevada Beach State Park.

Starting Times

To provide the best experience possible for all runners, the Rock Tahoe Half Marathon has two starting times. The first at 7:00 AM is for those who want to walk the race and runners who feel that it will take more than 3 hours to finish their 13.1 miles. The second starting time at 8:00 AM and is for those runners who plan to finish in less than 3 hours.

In summary, there really isn’t a more perfect venue for a half marathon in the world. The temperatures in June typically hover in the low-70s with plenty of sunshine. Cap that off with the scenery of the Sierra Nevada and Lake Tahoe and you got yourself a winner!
