Labor Day Lake Tahoe

Fun in the Sun!

Mountain Biking in South Lake Tahoe

Lake Tahoe celebrates the end of the summer season and the gateway to fall over Labor Day Weekend. You’ll find something you love to do and at the right level for you to pursue it. Hiking? We’ve got you covered. Everything from gentle meadow trails through golden Aspens to the 5.5 mile steep climb to the top of Mt. Tallac. Road cyclists will find “cruiser” riding on South Shore roads and bike trails and for those looking for more of a challenge, circumnavigate the 73 miles around Lake Tahoe features climbs past sites like gorgeous Emerald Bay. Family mountain biking is especially fun on the Pope -Baldwin Bike Path because it offers the opportunity to ride into so many beaches. Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride offers strong, skilled riders an exhilarating challenge and for those in between there are a number of choices around the Power Lines and Corral Loop.

Family Walking on Baldwin Beach in South Lake Tahoe

Beach lovers will find the most public beaches with the greatest capacity at Lake Tahoe. Get there early. Carve out your spot and bask and frolic with family and friends. Don’t forget your cooler, chairs, umbrella, shades and sunblock! Improved beaches have small carload entry fees, but they’re terrific for families because of convenient parking, toilets and picnic benches. Some offer food concessions as well as SUP and kayak rentals.

Family Boating on Lake Tahoe

Getting out on Lake Tahoe is a snap, too. If you don’t have your own water craft, you’ll find SUP, kayak, paddle boats and power boats to rent. Want to leave the sailing to others so you can kickback and enjoy the lake without a care? There are daily cruises To Emerald Bay aboard the M.S. Dixie II a historic stern-wheeler and the Safari Rose, a classic yacht, that provide not only expansive views of sapphire blue Lake Tahoe, but Vikingsholm and Fannette Island as well.

Golfing at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course

Golfing in Lake Tahoe’s thin air will add 10 yards to a drive. The scenery is drop dead gorgeous and you can play golf in your choice of view. Edgewood Tahoe is a luxury course and the only golf course on Lake Tahoe. At the other end of the spectrum is Bijou Municipal Golf Course with beautiful views of the Kit Carson Range. In between pricing can be found at Lake Tahoe Golf Course with expansive views of Mt. Tallac and Sierra. Tahoe Paradise Golf Course flows through tall pines.

The Shops at Heavenly Village

Lake Tahoe boasts the most shopping in the Sierra. Even though it’s in the heart of shopping, the Heavenly Village Midway Art and Music Festival is an event that’s like a shopping adventure on PEDS. The shops are open and waiting for you, but there’s also a wine walk, 5k fun run, classic car show, art festival, carnival and almost non-stop live music.

Still looking for something to do? Gaming, headliner entertainment, spas, and breweries are waiting for you.

Everybody is Workin’ for the Weekend!
