Our destination spans both California and Nevada. As we navigate the challenges of a pandemic it is important for visitors to be aware of the different restrictions and requirements between the two states and counties.

Starting Friday, Dec. 11, the California side of Lake Tahoe will be under a state-mandated Regional Stay Home Order. For more information go to California Updates.

On Nov. 24, Governor Sisolak’s increased restrictions to slow the spread of COVID-19 went into effect, and will last through Jan. 15 and will then be re-evaluated. Find information on the full directive video HERE.

On Wednesday, Dec. 9, the California Department of Public Health announced that El Dorado County, along with neighboring counties in the Greater Sacramento region, will be moving into the State’s Regional Stay Home Order beginning Friday, Dec. 11. The order will remain in effect for a minimum of three weeks. After that period, they will be lifted when a region’s projected ICU capacity meets or exceeds 15%. This will be assessed on a weekly basis after the initial 3 week period. The State’s Regional Stay Home Order is triggered when a region’s ICU capacity drops below 15%. On Jan. 11, the Greater Sacramento region’s ICU capacity had dropped to 9.4%.
Lodging
Hotels and lodging cannot accept or honor in-state or out-of-state reservations for non-essential travel, unless the reservation is for at least the minimum time period required for quarantine and the persons identified in the reservation will quarantine in the hotel or lodging entity until after that time period has expired.
When the Regional Stay Home Order is in effect in a region, hotels and lodging can only offer accommodation for COVID-19 mitigation and containment measures, treatment measures, accommodation for essential workers, or providing housing solutions, including measures to protect homeless populations.
