Bubbles and Bow Ties Lake Tahoe Fundraiser

This year’s event honors Ms. Marcia Sarosik.

It’s been seven years since Angela Zajic created the popular fundraiser, Bubbles & Bowties Adult Prom. This year it will be at the Hard Rock Tahoe on Saturday, November 5, from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m., and promises to be the best one yet after postponements due to the pandemic.

Did you have fun at your high school prom? Did you skip it? Do you miss dressing up and dancing the night away? Whatever your reason for going to your prom or not, the adult version is a whole lot of fun.

This year will surely be the best one yet, so be sure to DRESS YOUR BEST!

At age 10, Angela was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. As a little girl in dance class, Miss Marcia recognized the warning signs and advocated for her to seek immediate medical care. If it weren’t for Marcia being so aware, caring, and persistent, Angela’s diagnosis story would have been far more tragic and traumatic.

And she didn’t stop there.

“Miss Marcia is why I attended Camp Buck just a few months after my diagnosis,” said Angela. “Once there, I discovered I wasn’t alone. Her support continued until the day she passed. In a life filled with challenges, Marcia never ceased being my support, my cheerleader, and the most meaningful role model in my life.”

This year’s prom will be the first one Marcia will miss and it is being dedicated to her memory.

“It is not an exaggeration to say that I owe my life to this wonderful woman,” said Angela. “I can think of no better way to honor Marcia’s legacy than to raise money so other kids can receive the all-important support I found in Camp Buck. This is the 7th time we’ve put on this prom and the first time Miss Marcia won’t be attending. I hope you can join me in celebrating her memory and continuing her legacy of service.”

“This year’s prom is dedicated to Miss Marcia – the most important woman in my life who always advocated for me and saved my life. I will forever be grateful and indebted to her, and I wish only to carry on her tradition of service to the most vulnerable in our community,” said Angela.

All funds raised during the prom will go to the Nevada Diabetes Association, which supports Camp Buck, a summer camp for kids with Type 1 to make connections and learn how to live a healthy life with a disease for which there is no cure.
