Fast Food

Lake Tahoe has all the franchise fast food restaurants one might expect, McDonalds, Taco Bell, Five Guys, Panda Express, Chipotle, Jack in the Box and Subway. It also has some long time locally owned spots. Sno-Flake Drive-in has been dispensing burgers, fries and sodas for years as has Big Daddy’s Burgers and the Burger Lounge. There are a number of locally owned Mexican fast food restaurants. The Brothers Burrito House, Jalisco’s, and Jalapeno’s Taqueria have served fast Mexican food for years.

Breakfast

Terrific affordable breakfasts are available in the four casinos, IHOP and there are five Starbuck’s to choose from,  but there are some truly unique breakfast restaurants at Lake Tahoe. Bert’s Café and Ernie’s Coffee Shop have been serving up American style breakfasts on the South Shore for ages as have Heidi’s, the three Red Hut Cafés and the Driftwood Café. Those looking for a small, somewhat Bohemian breakfast experience with great coffee will find it at the Keys Café. Restaurants in this category also serve lunch.

Lake View

The Grove sits on the beach at Camp Richardson and features expansive views of Lake Tahoe and the Carson Range. For those seeking something a little more formal, Riva Grill is sure to please and same for nearby Artemis Lakefront Café. The Beach House sits on Lakeside Beach, it’s sans roof, but enclosed in glass with wonderful views of Lake Tahoe and the Sierra. Jimmy’s Restaurant is across the street and shares similar views. Fine dining with incredible views can be found at the top of Harveys Tahoe in the Sage Room and top of Harrah’s in Friday’s Station. Want the elevated lake view and Sierra view without being in a casino and fine dining atmosphere? You’ll find it at the casually elegant Chart House. Old Tahoe granite and wood ambiance with huge picture windows and fine dining set the Edgewood Restaurant apart from the rest. The Bistro and Brook’s Bar and Deck at Edgewood have views, too.

If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.
